Meer, Milkatäschchen und Minibusse
Am 05.03.2014 war ich zusammen mit Nathalie in Jūrmala, um Susi (eine Freiwillige aus Österreich) bei ihrem Workshop zu unterstützen. Sie arbeitet in einer Schule und ihr Workshop bestand daraus, aus altem Milkaschokopapier, Stoffresten und einem Reißverschluss zusammen mit ein paar Schülern Täschchen zu nähen. Das hat mir natürlich voll zugesagt. Ich und mein Nähfieber! ;) Meine Nähmaschine muss auf jeden Fall mit in meine zukünftige Wohnung in Deutschland.
Wir waren aber natürlich auch am Meer. Susi und Judith (eine Freiwillige aus Deutschland) wohnen ungefähr 10/15 min zu Fuß vom Meer entfernt. Das ist natürlich super praktisch und ich hab mich richtig in das Meer verliebt! :)
Abends waren wir dann noch in Rīga im Kino. Wir haben uns American Hustle auf Englisch mit lettischen und russischen Untertiteln angeschaut. Ich habe festgestellt, dass das voll perfekt zum Lettisch lernen ist. :) Außerdem ist das Kino in Rīga end cool. Man kauft sich die Karten, geht dann eine Treppe hoch und man landet im Süßigkeitenparadies schlecht hin. Man findet dort wirklich alles, u.a. auch Popcorn in allen möglichen Geschmacksrichtungen. Allerdings hab ich mich da dann doch nicht ran getraut, klang teilweise etwas unappetitlich. :(
Und jetzt noch zu den Minibussen. Also die gibt's bei uns hier in Gulbene schon auch, aber um Rīga herum haben die Busfahrer einen etwas anderen Fahrstil. Zum einen haben sie es ziemlich eilig. Ist irgendwie ja verständlich in einer Großstadt. In kleineren Städten ist natürlich alles etwas ruhiger. Allerdings finde ich es schon ziemlich krass, wenn der Busfahrer die ganze Zeit den Bus nach vorne rollen lässt und man dann mit der Tür in den Bus befördert wird.... :( Und dann war das so eine holprige Fahrt, das gibt's gar nicht. Ich dachte, um Rīga herum wären die Straßen besser. Na ja, das war halt auch eine Erfahrung, die man mal machen muss! :)
Jūrmala war wunderschön und ist auf jeden Fall eine oder vielleicht auch zwei Reisen wert! ;)

Seaside, milkabags and minibusses
On the 5th of March Nathalie and I were in Jūrmala in order to help Susi (a volunteer from Austria) with her creative workshop. She's working in a school and her workshop consisted of making little bags out of Milka chocolate paper, old fabric and a zipper together with some students. That was like totally my thing. I will definitely take my sewing machine with me to my future German flat! :)
Of course we also went to the seaside. Susi and Judith (a volunteer from Germany) live about 10 to 15 min by foot away from the ocean. That's of course very handy and I totally fell in love with the sea! :)
In the evening we went to Rīga to the cinema. We watched American Hustle in English with Latvian and Russian subtitles. I discovered that that is perfect for learning Latvian. :) Besides the cinema in Rīga is so cool. You buy your tickets, then go up the stairs and you arrive in heaven. You can find all kinds of sweets there. Ok some of the sweets sounded kind of gross. E.g. there was popcorn in all kinds of flavours, which I didn't try in the end, because the didn't sound so tasty. :(
And now the story of the minibusses. Ok we have those in Gulbene as well, but around Rīga the busdrivers have a slightly different style of driving. On the one hand they're kind of in a hurry. That is understandable, it's a big city after all. In small cities everything is just a bit calmer. However it's quite extreme when the driver let's the bus roll all the time and you get pushed into the bus by the door.... :( And then it was such a bumpy drive, you wouldn't believe. I thought around Rīga the roads would be a bit better. Well that's also an experience you have to make, I guess! ;)
Jūrmala was really beautiful and is at least worth one or maybe two visits! ;)
