Farbenfrohe Deko / Colourful decoration

Ende März sollten Estelle und ich zusammen Deko für ein Event entwerfen. Wir hatten Glück, dass Anna uns ihr Buch voll mit kreativen Ideen hinterlassen hat. Somit haben wir Blumen aus Plastiklöffeln und einem Teelicht in der Mitte gebastelt. Ganze 18 Stück!! Das war durchaus anstrengend, da wir nicht so super viel Zeit hatten.

Hier das Ergebnis! :)

At the end of March Estelle and I had to come up with some decoration for an event. We were lucky, that Anna left us her book full of creative ideas. Thus we made flowers out of plastic spoons and a tealight in the middle. We made 18 flowers!! That was quite exhausting, especially because we didn't have that much time.

Annas und Fabios Abschlussevent / Anna's and Fabio's last event

Annas und Fabios Abschlussevent

Am 26.02.2014 hatten Anna und Fabio ihr Abschlussevent. Anna hat während ihres EFDs Kreativ-Workshops veranstaltet, weswegen sie zum Abschluss ihres EFDs ein Buch mit Bastelanleitungen erstellt hat. Das Büchlein ist voll mit sehr kreativen Ideen, von denen ich auch schon welche in die Tat umgesetzt habe.
Fabio hingegen hatte ein ganz anderes Resultat. Er hat ein Lied für Bāze (das Jugendzentrum) komponiert. Dieses Lied wurde dann aufgeführt und Fabio hat auch zusammen mit seinen Gitarrenschülern musiziert.
Alles in allem war die Veranstaltung echt schön und es war sehr beeindruckend zu sehen, was die beiden während ihres EFDs alles so gemacht haben.
Zum Abschluss gab's dann noch Kuchen und Essen! :) Unter anderem auch ein paar Orangenschnitze, wodurch sehr lustige Bilder entstanden sind! ;)

Anna's and Fabio's last event

On the 26th of February Anna and Fabio had their last event. Anna made creative workshops during her EVS and therefore she made a book with handicraft instructions. The book is full of very creative ideas and I already tried some of them.
Fabio however had a totally different result. He composed a song for Bāze (the youth centre). He performed that song and also played some songs together with his guitar students.
All in all this event was really nice and it was impressive to see what both of them did during their EVS.
In the end there was cake and food! :) Among other things there were also some orange slices with which we made some funny pictures! ;)

Gada atsitiens

Am 18.01.2014 hatten wir hier in Gulbene die alljährliche Verleihung des Jugendpreises. Es wurden Preise in den verschiedensten Kategorien verliehen. Ich hab im Vorfeld mit der Deko geholfen und Dresscode der Veranstaltung war world ethno, weswegen ich gleich mal mein Dirndl ausgepackt habe!! :) Die Veranstaltung war echt schön und ich hab sogar ein bisschen was verstanden! :)



On the 18th of January was the annual youth award in Gulbene. They awarded prizes in different categories. I helped with the decoration beforehand and the dresscode of the event was world ethno, thus I was wearing my Dirndl!! :) The event was really nice and I even understood a little bit! :)

Diese Woche haben Nathalie und ich uns der großen Herausforderung gestellt, Plätzchen für ca. 300 Leute zu backen!!!
Es war nicht einfach und ich bin auch ziemlich stolz auf uns, dass wir das bewältigt haben. Nach 12 Stunden backen (auf 3 Tage verteilt) war es dann auch endlich vollbracht! Wir hatten ja aber zum Glück Helfer. Die Idee dahinter war nämlich eine interaktive Deutschstunde zu gestalten. Weswegen wir deutsche Weihnachtsplätzchen mit ein paar unserer Deutschschülerinnen gebacken und dabei Deutsch geredet haben. Deutsche Weihnachtslieder durften natürlich auch nicht fehlen! ;) Zum Glück hatten wir aber auch noch ein paar andere Freiwillige, die uns beim Backen geholfen haben. Estelle hat mitgeholfen sowie auch ein paar Kinder und Jugendliche vom Jugendzentrum Bāze, ein Mädel aus unserem Hostel, das Deutsch lernt und eine Deutschlehrerin aus Gulbene. Natürlich war auch Edi mit dabei. Da das ganze dann doch etwas interkultureller war als gedacht, haben wir dann natürlich nicht nur Deutsch, sondern auch Englisch und Lettisch gesprochen!
Es war anstrengend, aber auch sehr lustig!! Es gab sehr viel zum Lachen und am Donnerstag hatten Nathalie, Edi und ich auch noch eine Mehl-Schlacht, die end lustig war!! ;)

Dienstag / Tuesday




Am Samstag war dann das eigentliche Event für das wir die Plätzchen gebacken haben. Dort wurden die Kerzen am großen Weihnachtsbaum vor dem Rathaus entzündet und allgemein der gesamte Platz in eine weihnachtliche Atmosphäre versetzt. Es wurde gesungen und getanzt und wir haben die Plätzchen zusammen mit Tee an die Leute verteilt. Es ist schon krass, dass die Plätzchen für die wir 12 Stunden gebraucht haben innerhalb von 45 min weg waren!! Für dieses Event hatten wir natürlich auch ein Outfit, welches ihr auf den Bildern sehen könnt!! ;)

Danach ging es für mich und Nathalie ins Kulturzentrum. Dort wurde Schneewittchen und die 7 Zwerge aufgeführt. Die Vorführung war sehr schön, aber währenddessen ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich es voll vermisse Cello zu spielen (Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass dieser Satz jemals über meine Lippen kommt!) und Ballett zu tanzen. :(
Am Ende der Vorführung hab ich mal wieder die Blumen an die Darsteller überreicht. Dieses Mal musste ich aber mal nicht alleine auf die Bühne, da ja Nathalie auch da war. Anschließend haben wir dann noch Piparkukas (Pfefferkuchen) an die Gäste am Ausgang überreicht.
Das Beste an diesem Event war aber eigentlich mein Outfit. Im Theaterfundus, als wir nach den Kostümen für Samstag gesucht haben, haben wir nämlich ein Dirndl aus dem schönen Allgäu gefunden. Das hatte ich dann an, allerdings mit einer Nikolausmütze, wie ihr auf den Bildern sehen könnt! ;) It's all about new experinces!! ;)

So das war's erst mal! So ging eine sehr ereignisreiche und anstrengende Woche zu Ende!

This week Nathalie and I had to face a big challenge: baking for around 300 people!!
It wasn't easy and I'm kind of proud of us that we mastered that. After 12 hours of baking (distributed over 3 days) it was finally done! But thankfully we weren't alone. The idea behind it was to make an interactive German lesson. Because of that we baked German Christmas cookies with some of our students and spoke German with them! Of course we also sang some German Christmas carols! ;)
Luckily we also had some other volunteers! Estelle helped us as well as some kids from the youth centre Bāze, one girl from our hostel that is studying German and one of the German teachers in Gulbene. Of course Edi was there as well. In the end the event was more interculutural than we thougt and because of that we of course didn't only speak German but also English and Latvian.
It was quite exhausting but also a lot of fun! ;) We had a lot to laugh about and on Thursday Nathalie, Edi and I had a flour-flight which was really funny!! ;)

Thursday / Donnerstag

On Saturday was the actual event for which we backed the cookies. There they ignited the big Christmas tree in front of the municipality and the whole square got a Christmas atmosphere. People sang and danced and we gave our cookies and tea to the people who came to see this event. It is quite insane how fast the cookies for which we needed 12 hours were gone. After 45 min absolutely nothing of the cookies was left!! Of course we had an outfit for this event which you can see in the pictures! ;)

Afterwards Nathalie and I went to the culture centre. There was a performance of Snow White and the 7 dwarfs. The performance was really nice but during it I realized that I miss playing Cello (which I thought would never happen) and dancing ballet quite a lot. :(
At the end of the performance I gave flowers to the actors like usual. But this time I didn't have to go on stage alone because Nathalie was there so she could help me! :) Afterwards we gave piparkukas (gingerbread) to all of the guests at the exit!
The best part of this event was actually my outfit. When we looked for costumes for Saturday in the theatre, I found a Dirndl (traditional Bavarian dress). Of course I wore that but this time with a santa hat. ;) It's all about new experinces!! ;)

That's it for now! Thus a very eventful and busy week came to an end!
